First up, there is no secret to success. It just takes work, or said differently, putting in as many reps as it takes until you FIND success.
Success is just a measure of how many attempts you’ve made that ended with a positive result as opposed to a negative result. More often than not, I fail in most things I pursue—at least in the beginning.
Which is to be expected. It would be unreasonable to assume that I or anyone else would succeed at everything they pursue. It’s called growing pains for a reason. Change is hard. Effective change is harder yet. Which is why we have to learn how to change by embracing failure as a learning opportunity.

Embracing Failure as a Stepping Stone
Failure and success are two sides of the same coin. Every successful person has faced failure at some point.
But…it’s not the failure itself but how we respond to it that defines our path to success. When I fail, I don’t see it as the end of the road but as a valuable lesson. I fail every week in my day job, each time learning a new way to communicate what I want, and how I aim to get there.
Each failure provides insights and teaches us what doesn’t work, bringing us one step closer to finding what does.
Learning and Adapting
Success is often the culmination of learning from multiple failures. Thomas Edison famously said, “I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.”
This mindset is crucial. It’s about persistence and adapting your strategies based on the lessons learned from each setback. Every attempt, whether successful or not, adds to your experience and knowledge base, shaping a more informed and refined approach.
Take financial knowledge for example: You don’t know how bad you suck at managing your money until a bill is late, or the lights get turned off, or the car gets repossessed… But in that, you learn the lesson of paying your bills on time. You learn to save some money for yourself.
You learn to be better.
The Role of Resilience
But with that, we must be resilient. Resilience is the backbone of success. The ability to bounce back from failures, to persevere despite setbacks, and to keep moving forward is what separates those who eventually succeed from those who give up.
Giving up is easy, it’s the default state for most people. We try, fail, and then give up. But let’s ponder for a moment – what if you ‘gave up’ on giving up?
What if, despite giving up, you persisted? That… will lead to growth and success.

Growth Through Challenges
Challenges are essential for growth. They push us out of our comfort zones and force us to develop new skills and perspectives.
When we embrace challenges, we also embrace the opportunity to grow. It’s in these moments of struggle that we often discover our true strengths and capabilities.
More often than not, we give up to early to the challenges of life. Here’s a challenge for you: save $10,000. Prove to yourself, you’re capable of saving that money. You have one year from today – go ahead, I’ll be here for you.
And if you tell me ‘but Michael, I can’t save that much, it’s impossible‘, then I need you to send me a list of the reasons it’s impossible. That way, we can break down each of the reasons, and tackle them bit by bit. Again, I’m here for YOU. I do this for free, so that we can learn from our challenges and GROW and learn to be successful.
