In the Beginning…

Welcome fellow Military Cash enthusiasts! Whether you’ve served for a year, multiple years or are now a veteran or retiree, you are in the right place to further your personal finance goals!

First, a bit about me… I’m Michael Hicks, currently serving active duty in the United States Air Force. I’ve been in for just over 10 years as of the writing of this post (2023), and I’m currently committed to at least 12 years of service.

One of my personal goals is to share the financial knowledge that I’ve gained during my time in the USAF. Finances underpin everyone’s daily lives and I aim to fill the gap between what you may or may not have learned in grade school and what the Military (and Civilian life) teaches.

Second, I want to catalog my own growth and keep a digital record of my work. The most important thing that I have learned in the past 10+ years: Write down everything. Make note of the victories, and the losses. Make to-do lists, write down conversations with loved ones, coworkers and self. Write down things we’ve learned and our aspirations. Make your own personal history so you have something to look back on in 10, 15, 20 years.

Lessons and knowledge shared here isn’t just for military, it’s for everyone, young and old. Let’s learn together about Military Cash.

-Michael
